March Life Update

INSIDE: March Retro, April Goals, Life Updates

Happy Sunday! A quick update on what’s been going on in my life since the launch of this newsletter.

What happened in March

Unemployment days over. I finally started work as a Software Engineer at Dovetail. It has been 3 weeks since I started, and oh boy, things have gotten so hectic! In preparation for our first ever conference this week, we have been working overtime to add massive features before the keynote. We did the release, but as usual, bug reports have been appearing left and right.

Long distance no more. My partner finally arrived here in Sydney. We have the same temporary resident visa. Kinda weird she got hers late despite submitting our application at the same time. She has been adjusting well, no doubt. But, of course, tech winter and all, job hunting hasn't been easy. Fingers crossed she gets a job soon!

Still a wantrepreneur. I'm in the process of starting a new business, but I'm still at the problem identification stage. I'm following the Million Dollar Weekend book from Noah Kagan to help me with my process. As of this moment, I have 4 ideas I want to explore, and 48 hours to validate each. Yes, that includes getting 3 customers to pay me real money without even having a product yet.

What's coming up in April

Interview prep case study. I'm 100% confident my partner will get grand-slam offers from tech giants here. She has been loosely following the same study guide I created for myself. The roadmap was originally for myself to prep for big tech, but I never really benefitted much since I immediately said yes to Dovetail. But seeing her nail stages after stages makes me think that my shit works. Once we get offers, I'll write this case study up for you, fellow reader.

Chat with a CEO. I'm also keen on syncing up with Dovetail's CEO, Benjamin. I still haven't finalized the list of questions I'm going to ask. But my idea is to uncover the history behind Dovetail's early stages. Things like ideas he iterated on before Dovetail, how he validated Dovetail, or how he got his first 5 customers.

Chat with customers. Since I'm in the process of validating my ideas, April should be the month when I start talking to customers. I have a goal of talking to at least 10 potential customers or leads per idea. Problem is, I have no idea what to ask! The Mom Test book could probably help me out.

That’s all for this week! But one more thing. If you’re enjoying this, can you do me a favor and forward it to a friend? Thanks.
